Will placing a new brown leather chair in direct sunlight discolor or ruin it?

I would like to place a dark brown in color leather chair in my sunroom. I live off a lake and the sunroom faces northeast so that it is flooded with alot of sunlight during the morning hours. I have no window treatments right now, but still would like to keep the chair in there. Will the direct sunlight fade the color immeadiatly or will it occur over a longer period of time. Thank you for your help.
