What is the difference between mid-inguinal point and mid point of inguinal ligament?Wht is their significance?

From what I know, mid-ingunal point is the midpoint of a line joining the ASIS and the superior edge of pubic symphsis whereas, mid point of ingunal ligament is the midpoint between the ASIS and the pubic tubercle.Based on the definition stated above, I find this two landmarks are almost at the same place.Hence, what is the significance of both landmark?Please someone help me.Your help is highly appreciated.Thanks in advance.
