Over Knee

Do you think over-the-knee boots in a tan color are ugly or cute?

I've been wanting pair of tan leather boots for a while and have recently become interested in the thigh high/over-the-knee look. i figured i'd buy a pair of them in a tan color, but looking on many fashion sites, it seems most are wearing them in a black color. Should i nix the tan or keep it?
