Kitty kicks litter out of her box?

Hi,
My kitten will always kick a big of litter out the front of her litterbox. Why does she do this? It makes such a mess!! I've bought one of those mats for under the litter box that stretches out her paws when she steps on it, so she doesn't track litter everywhere, but it gets all over the tile floor in the bathroom and it grosses me out! What can I do? She is really good about using her litter box and covering it up, so I am nervous about doing anything that would deter her....

Try replacing your current litterbox with another one, that has higher walls, that way she won't be able to throw the litter out, but instead the litter she kicks will fall back on her. Of course she will clean herself up and eventually she'll stop doing it, because it will be annoying to her too!
