im 16 and i wrestled in high school i wantto get involved in womens mma but i dont even know where to start?

im 16 and i live in sc so it very hard to find programs for womens mma but i realy want to do it

Unfortunately, as I recall, MMA is for some reason still illegal in SC.

However, right now I'd recommend sticking with wrestling. It's probably the best base system for MMA. Obviously wrestling will give you your takedowns, takedown defense, and top control. From that you have to add submissions and back fighting, for which Brazilian Jiujitsu is probably most known for, but arts like Judo, Sambo, and submission wrestling are pretty good for that, too. You also have to have strikes and strike defense. My first recommendations would be boxing and Muay Thai, however Taekwondo, karate, and other "traditional" systems can help out, too.

So see if there is a school for grappling or striking martial arts near you. Train in that while you continue to wrestle in high school. After you graduate, I would strongly suggest going to college. If you really want to persue an MMA career, you can look for a college in a state that allows MMA competitions. I'd recommend GA, since we've got some great MMA schools around Atlanta, or Florida, Iowa, California, New Mexico, Washington, or Nevada. Those places have major MMA camps in them. It might be useful to find out where your favorite fighter trains at and head there. But remember: college first. A steady job with a degree pays better than being a fighter does.
